WHAT IS The Gift of INTERPRETATION?
The gift of interpretation is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to make known in an understood language the message of one who speaks in tongues.

to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?
Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret.
What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God.
SUGGESTED POTENTIAL STRENGTHS & CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS GIFT
- Has interpreted tongues with the result that the Body of Christ was edified, exhorted, or comforted (1 Corinthians 14:3, 26).
- Sensitivity to the Spirit’s promptings; is yielded (1 Corinthians 14:15).
- Has sensed an understanding of what God is saying while a message in tongues is given (1 Corinthians 14:5).
SUGGESTED POTENTIAL WEAKNESSES & WARNINGS OF THIS GIFT
- Seems to be too subjective rather than objective.
- It is possible that the words of a presumed interpretation are not given by the Holy Spirit (from human spirit or diabolical spirit).
- It may be that the apparent interpretation is a prophecy rather than a direct translation of a message given.
