The gift of teaching is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the Body of Christ to communicate information relevant to the health and ministry of the Body and its members in such a way that others will learn.

When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed, 28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the Scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.

And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. 14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming...

SUGGESTED POTENTIAL WEAKNESSES & WARNINGS OF THIS GIFT
- Emphasis on accuracy at the expense of application. Lack of warmth.
- Bore listeners with unnecessary details.
- May appear to be more dependent on research of others than on the Holy Spirit.
- Becoming proud of their knowledge.
- Let their teaching get ahead of their living.
- Concentrate on “pet” doctrines.
- Gives impression that they are the only valid source of truth.
- Criticize teaching of others due to petty differences.
- Discount the wisdom of the uneducated.
